Coushatta is the seat of Red River
Parish in northwest Louisiana on US Highways 71 & 84 and is 40 miles to
metropolitan Shreveport. The parish is divided by the Red River, defining 2 distinct sections: the rich river bottomlands on the west and the pine & oak uplands on the east. It also affords its residents a high quality of life with excellent education and medical facilities as well as abundant recreational opportunities.
The old courthouse is a classic architectural structure rebuilt in 1926 to replace the original parish courthouse which was destroyed by fire in Coushatta. Named for an Indian tribe, the Coushatta Nation's future is filled with hope and rich with opportunity.
With effective leadership and the development of a strong tribal government comes the revival of a culture almost lost, a heritage almost forgotten.
While Red River Parish offers all of the business amenities and services, it also affords its residents a high quality of life with excellent education and medical facilities as well as abundant recreational opportunities.
